“Horizontes” by Francisco Antonio Cano (1913)

When I hear a statement or run across a quote that speaks to me, I write it down and tack it by my desk. Do you do this?

Today this one caught my eye and seemed to speak to me about the dilemma many people face:

Your future intent determines your present action.

I no longer remember where I found this quote, but it seems like a great wake-up call for anyone who’s feeling unhappy with their present career situation and wishing for something better.

It’s easy to dream about the day when you can control your own destiny. “When I’ve got a little more experience…when the kids are grown…when I have my 25 years in…when I retire…” The problem is, dreaming doesn’t make anything happen. If you truly want to be the master of your universe and own a business, then you need to turn the dream into intent and begin to plan.

Sometimes it’s hard to know how to make the dream happen. What is my timeline? What needs to be done first?  What if I’m not equipped to run a business? The best advice I can give you is, consider owning a franchise.

Franchise ownership is a rapidly growing method of achieving entrepreneurship for a number of reasons. Successful franchisors tailor their programs to help make the franchisees successful. From the moment they offer you the opportunity to purchase their franchise, you become part of a support group like no other. You will have all the support services and marketing expertise you could ask for. And you have a peer group of franchisees willing to share information, what works and what doesn’t.

If you’d like to turn off your personal dream machine and start talking about intent, I would like to talk to you. With 10 years in the business of franchise consulting, I can help you set a course of action now so your intent can become reality.
