Have you heard the expression, never underestimate a woman? Take Dolly Parton. She came from humble beginnings with a father who couldn’t read and probably had to arm-wrestle her 11 siblings for the few books they owned. Some may see her as a “Backwoods Barbie,” but she’s worth $600 million.

Some people underestimate certain franchises.

▶ Never underestimate what a smaller, not as well-known brand can do!
▶ There is no direct correlation between the amount of money you invest and the amount of money you can make.

In fact, some people (myself included) prefer those lower investments with bigger than average returns!

These businesses are usually solid, some might say boring, businesses that are mentioned in the book “The Millionaire Next Door.” They’re not glitzy – just day-in, day-out performers, under-the-radar opportunities. I like to think of them as ahead-of-the-curve brands.

When I think of Dolly Parton, I think of her foundation’s support of free books for children in honor of her dad whose inability to read kept him from achieving his dreams.
