Some of the large hotel and fast-food restaurants are like the Queen Mary. It could take a while to get approval from the bridge to enter open water. Plus, the Queen Mary can’t just dock anywhere. Some franchises need a certain demographic/psychographic or a minimum population base. Other times, a dock may already be full, meaning many of the territories are already sold out.

Usually if you hear about a hot, up-and-coming franchise, it could already be sold out in your market area even if no sites are open yet.

The speed boat might be that hot, new brand. Plenty of power and lots of room to grow.

The tugboat is the non-sexy business model that just works.

Imagine the houseboat as the owner/operator model.
