franchisees Phil and Sandy

Congratulations to franchisees Sandy and Phil for being included in Newsday’s article on baby boomers!

Here’s the back story:  Six years ago I started working with this very nice couple who was newly married. They had goals and dreams for this second chapter in their lives. Together they had four boys (one in college, two just starting college and one in high school.) Plus, Phil referred soccer, basketball and lacrosse because he liked it and it supplemented their income.

Sandy was going to be the “driver” of the business to start, with the goal of Phil being able to join her when it was feasible. Sandy had been displaced from her job and did not want to go back to corporate America. She was very analytical, so the companies I presented had to be rock solid. She and Phil just wanted to get their feet wet to start, then wanted the ability to add additional units or another territory down the road.

Fast-forward to today. Phil left his job and joined Sandy full-time in their franchised senior care business. They have not only grown their initial business, but have added a second territory along the way. Last year they bought a building moving their office staff of nine. Now they have over 100 caregivers who care for 85+ clients per week.

Sandy said, “Owning a franchise is a great option for seasoned professionals who find themselves being displaced by corporate America at an age when it is extremely difficult to find comparable work. I have compassion for our senior population because they also face being displaced from their homes when they age. With just a little assistance we can help them realize their dream to live out their lives in their own homes.”
